SERA MADDOX DRAKE is an independent, self-published author with a BA in English who writes magical realism, dreampunk, and erotic literary fiction with esoteric, occult themes. Their work has a special focus on the viewpoints of neurodiverse, queer characters, and they believe that only love will save the day.

They live with their husband, children, and cats in a conservative Flyover Country state that does not need to be named, on a small lot that they are slowly but surely converting from grass to permaculture. 

Their award-winning debut novel, Ancilla, has been lauded by readers and critics alike as profound, intense, immersive, dreamy, magical, edgy, heart-wrenching, spicy, deliriously romantic, sensuous, and epic... although all critics and readers seem to be at a loss as to what Ancilla actually is. The general consensus, however, seems to be that Ancilla explores the intersection of autistic neurodivergence, kink, queerness, and mysticism.

Morsels: Tales of Love and Passion, a collection of short stories that range from sweet and humorous to searingly kinky to downright disturbing, launched in late November 2024. It, too, has amassed some awards.

The author has also published Excavations, a collection of poetry.

They are currently working on What Is Told: A Conglomeration of Confabulations, which is just what the label says on the tin and will be launched sometime in the later part of 2026.
